Health care industry is optimistic about the future

"The healthcare industry is optimistic about the future"
The largest medical trade fair in the world is announced with a significantly higher number of exhibitors than in the troubled year of 2009. Large companies such as Siemens have returned. "This is evidence of optimism in the medical equipment industry," said Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of Messe Dusseldorf. This optimism is also evident at the Loy & Hutz stand in Hall 15. This year, the company has made the theme of risk analysis its special focus. “Unfortunately, there are still too many firms in the health sector where this relevant liability issue does not receive enough attention”, says Rainer Hutz, CEO of Loy and Hutz Solutions AG. Loy & Hutz presented its his innovations over the last 20 years in the field of facility management and maintenance software at Medica.

"Economic facility management focuses first on land use."
Cut ties with past thinking: The central question of economic Facility Management is of land use, not only energy costs. Professor Joachim Hohmann said in his speech at the opening of the third Loy & Hutz user day today in theWesternHarbourTowerin Frankfurt am Main. About 170 visual FM users attended the event for lectures, workshops and networking opportunities to exchange experiences and deepen their knowledge.
If corporations adopt CAFM software, cost savings for cleaning and moving are often the focus - even if they do not account for the largest cost item. "When large amounts are saved on cleaning, over previously poorly or badly negotiated sums" said the Chair of Facility Management at theUniversityofKaiserslautern. And as a surprise to many, despite the high energy prices, energy management is not the biggest item. "The biggest cost of a property is the available land cost, and thus the land use is the central question," explained Hohmann.
That land use is a sensitive issue, Hohmann knows from experience. "The optimization is seen very reluctantly, because for example, instead of a new building rather use the available land to accommodate more employees on the existing surface," he says. Also recommended is the introduction of internal rental management so that usage cost can be assigned to the responsible party.
Careful preparation is needed to fully exploit the potential of the area as well as other areas of optimisation. Here Hohmann promoted the GEFMA Directive 440, which gives strong support from the introduction with practice aids, checklists and examples. The Loy & Hutz User Conference 2010 will be held on 30 September and 1 October in theWesternHarbourTowerin Frankfurt am Main. The approximately 170 participants can expect workshops and report practices, including topics such as areas of rental management, usage based cost allocation, and Property Allowance, CAD, document management and the upcoming visual FM 10.
