Joachim Pfister | Training

Our head of training Joachim relies on patience and empathy in seminars – whether in our training center, at customer sites or online. There’s never a dull moment, because it’s not just our products that are constantly evolving. Each time, Joachim meets people from different companies and fields, for who he creates individual training concepts. He is also responsible for the quality assurance of the seminars and supports his team in the planning, execution and follow-up.

Q&A with Joachim

What is your job/position and what are your day-to-day tasks?

As team leader for training, I plan and coordinate both seminars for our training center in Freiburg im Breisgau and individual customer training courses. I advise our customers on the selection of courses and create suitable training concepts as required. Of course, I also hold training courses myself.

Which tools do you mainly use for your work?

My main tool in my daily work is our waveware® QPRO. Here I find all the important information about customers, ongoing projects and current orders. In waveware® QPRO, I document all training-related information – from registration to billing. Other important tools are MS Outlook for emails and scheduling, and MS Teams for audio and video communication. MS Teams is the software most frequently used for our online training courses.

What challenges drive you the most?

What drives me most is the question of how the quality of our training courses can be maintained and improved. In addition to optimizing content, processes and documentation, this also concerns the use of modern media technology. A particular challenge is to keep pace with software developments and to master the constant enhancements and the enormous range of functions of our products.

Where can you best contribute your strengths?

My patience and empathy are certainly advantages when conducting training. I think there are no “stupid questions” and therefore I try to explain unclear issues as often and as precisely as necessary. The main way I support my team is by reliably taking care of the tasks assigned to me. They know they can rely on me.

What do you like most about your job?

I am often asked whether it is not monotonous to constantly train the same topics. The answer to that is simple: It’s usually the same topics, but it’s always different people in very different companies and institutions. That’s what makes my work so interesting and varied. And I particularly appreciate the friendly interaction with many colleagues and the associated feeling of being part of a community.

What are you most passionate about outside of work?

In my free time I enjoy long walks with my wife and our Labrador dog Bruno. I like to meet friends, work with passion on the house and garden and when the weather is nice, I like to ride my motorcycle.
