Q&A with Katharina

What is your job/position and what are your day-to-day tasks?

As a software developer in the web team, I am responsible for the development and maintenance of our web clients. My main focus is on our new waveware® UX client. As a web developer, I program new features, optimize the technical operation of the software on the web and ensure flawless functionality.

Which tools do you mainly use for your work?

For my daily tasks, I work with the JetBrains Rider development environment, the TypeScript scripting language and the React framework. I also work with waveware® CONSTRUCTOR and waveware® DESIGNER to check my development work.

What challenges drive you the most?

What is particularly exciting about my work is the complex software architecture of our product. Due to the rule-based and therefore very flexible structure of our software, I have to work generically as a developer. To do this, I program interfaces and UI components that make the rules of the waveware® CONSTRUCTOR and settings of the waveware® DESIGNER visible and usable in the client.

Where can you best contribute your strengths?

During my studies in online media and media informatics at Furtwangen University, I was trained in topics such as web development with frameworks (React), user experience, interface design and more. I can apply this combined knowledge very well to our day-to-day tasks.

What do you like most about your job?

What I like best is working with international colleagues and across different areas of work. To carry out my tasks, I often coordinate with colleagues from other teams and thus come into contact with different areas of our software on a daily basis. By working from home, I can organize my working hours flexibly and integrate them optimally into my everyday life.

What are you most passionate about outside of work?

To balance out my daily PC work, I enjoy hiking, swimming and cycling. I also volunteer as a paramedic and lifeguard for the DLRG and am part of the board of a sports club. In addition to sporting activities, I am also a fan of board games, pen & paper role-playing games and creative handicrafts.
